Time Flies

Wow, it really has flown. Probably beacause work has been very hectic. Sorry it's been so long since I updated the blog - hope you're all ok and having a very lovely - though slightly rainy summer. It's getting close to that time of going off to study, or travel or work. I've been networking like crazy over the summer and will be putting on events at the Folk House so listen out - and pretty soon i'll be back at UWE teaching on the BA in Drawing and Applied Arts and starting my MA in Print - am excited and a bit scared!

So my first event at the Folk House is an Open Day. It's on 1 September and will be on from 10 - 4pm - so if you're out and about on Park Street pop in and say hello.

Alys Paterson is helping the cause with some illustrations - plus an exhibition in the cafe from 6 Sept with fellow illustrators Bjorn Lie and Lucie Sheridan.

A tiny street art project

I really want to find one of these. What a brilliant idea, and a very subtle way of self promoting, I remember seeing one of these photographed in the paper ages ago as people started finding them... brilliant! See more by Slinkachu here.

One of my students is about to finish their degree next week and has been really pushing his self promotion. He drew my attention to i dress myself who do t-shirts and badges priding themselves as eco friendly printers. They are also a group of artists. Also worth a look are design group insect.

Open Studios

There is an open studio weekend at the Jamaica Street studios this Saturday and Sunday (private view Friday eve). Wide variety of work there, with a mixture of different artists and designers, great studio spaces, lots of inspiration. Emma Dibben and Bjorn Lie have spaces there.

New Links

Some new links found through Peepshow. Great website by the collective from East London. Love Adrian Johnson's animations and Luke Best's collages.

Call For Entries

Don't forget the Cheltenham Illustration Awards competition. The deadline is July 6 for entries. The theme is 'Cautionary Tales' and the prizes are good. Follow the link for more info.

The Next Chapter

You're all about to go on to the next chapter of your lives. I just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed working with all of you. This last year at UWE has reminded me how much I love teaching, illustration and being creative.

I am really proud of you and what you have all achieved, and I can't wait to hear about how you're all getting on in the future. I am also moving on, my next chapter involves starting my MA in Multi Disciplinary Print at UWE and running the courses at the Folk House.

Please keep in touch, I will post messages here of events and exhibitions, and updates on how you're all doing when you email. Enjoy this next bit, and good luck with everything you do creative and otherwise.
